Vodafone McLaren F1 team has been fined US$100 million and is stripped from it’s Constructors Championship Points for this year. This is because McLaren has been found to have possession of confidential Ferrari data.

Such data includes the weight distribution and braking system of Ferrari’s car, a flexible rear wing design and a gas used by the Italian team to inflate its tyres. It is also suggested that Ferrari’s pit stop strategy in this year’s Australian Grand Prix was also leaked real-time during raceday.

The guilty parties includes Ferrari engineer, Nigel Stepney and McLaren senior designer Mike Coughlan.

McLaren F1 Drivers, Pedro De la Rosa & Fernando Alonso were also said to have received these data as well. However, they have came forward with the evidence and were granted immunity from any personal sanctions from FIA World Motor Sport Council.
