RealPlayer 11 Beta for Windows XP and Vista

RealNetworks has just annouced yesterday the release of RealPlayer 11 Beta. RealPlayer 11 is currently only available to Windows XP and Vista users. A Mac & Linux version will be released at the end of the year.
RealNetworks also had a leaked beta release like the Windows Live Messenger v8.5 Beta just before their official annoucement. But it was compensiated by the official annoucement of the beta release. Now I wonder are these leaked betas a marketting strategy, or really are a genuine leak.

It features a new interface, however it does look very similar to Microsoft’s Windows Media Player 11. I can argue that by first glance it looks at least 80% like Windows Media Player 11. Even the tabs look similar. There’s even a feature for video burning.
More features and download link after the jump.
The main feature of RealPlayer 11 is it has a video downloader for embeded flash videos (flv) like YouTube, and I think it also allows downloading of other media formats such as the Windows Media (wma, wmv) and QuickTime formats. This downloader feature For the time being, “Web Download and Recording” is only supported on Firefox and Internet Explorer.

My Verdict
In my opinion, video downloaders are so plentiful in the market & Internet now, so why add one now? I also personally would prefer an all in one media player rather than different players for different formats. I also do not like background running programs for media players to enhance my media player start up speed. Therefore, I wouldn’t give RealPlayer a chance in my laptops/computers a place to stay. I’d rather find alternatives to view these video formats like RealAlternative.
To me, it’s just another player.

DviX.com. 2) VLC medi player works very well with vista also. Download the software and open the GL out put in VLC media player and it will play anything. This is free software. VLC.com
