Perhaps the traffic been overwhelming and unanticipated. Good problem to have? ;)

Mine website went down twice when CNN and Gizmodo reported it on the net.

Sorry about that! Yes, it was a bandwidth issue…traffic has been overwhelming. FYI, we’re using roughly more than half a tetrabyte per month…and the amount is steadily increasing each day. Even 4MBps dedicated bandwidth is not enough, so we have to increase some more…

The site and ad serving was down for about 5-10 minutes actually (as you can see from the comments..”eh, why your ads still showing). I was at a petrol station when it happened, trying to get the the last car in the Shell Ferrari series, I have the whole set except the last one.

Anyway, back to the story, I got an sms notifying me of the downtime, and all that was needed was a quick call to the host, and it was back up :)

PS: We use http://www.montastic.com to monitor our domain uptimes, we find it very useful. Thanks for letting us know! Also thanks to those who have e-mailed/sms us on this.

PS: Anyone got the last car (the f50) in the Shell/Ferarri series? I have all except the last one…

Josh, would it be easier to say you are using 512GB per month … and its terabyte … not tetrabyte … the only tetra i know is tetrapak … those paper packaging for boxed drinks …

Doh! Got confused with tetrabyte / terabyte, thanks for pointing that out! ;) At least I didn’t say trilobite ;)

kriscell: maybe, but still, don’t they monitor?

paddy tan: lol.. maybe it’s good. but it’s also bad in a way for an advertising company. i don;t get to earn in that period!!

josh lim: im using http://www.site24×7.com it’s good. =)
i have the whole set.. coz i got a shell station just outside my home. lol.

josh response to earl: yalor.. i dun see any problem tat time. face problem kua. lol..

DK: yeah i wonder abt that too. the last time i had a bandwidth over limit problem, i also didn’t get any warning messages..
