Midvalley Parking Fees Increase
Received a forwarded email from my senior…
It seems that the Mid Valley City (MVC) management informed that the MVC car park fees would
be increased from 1 March 2007 to as follows:
1st 3 hours @ RM1.00
Subsequent hours @ RM1.00 per hour
Maximum of RM7.00 per day
The cheapest shopping complex parking rate is no longer one anymore…Crazy.
But of course… KLCC Parking rates is the king of all. However, there’s a cheaper parking place if you wanna go to KLCC – but if it’s raining, then too bad la.
It’s across the street, just beside the Malaysian Rubber Association… RM3.50 per entry I think. Way cheaper than KLCC’s. The next time I’m there, I’ll get a picture of it.
For the latest parking rates information check out my own KLParking.com.

Dear all,
It was shocking to hear that Midvalley has increased its parking rates. But, it was no surprise as it is also time that they follow suit the other parking operators. Have been parking at Midvalley for the past few years and enjoying the “super-low” rate! Well, over the years we have seen lots of development here and there and it is very competitve especially for parking operators.
I would like to share the scenario at KLCC area as I have seen many shocking “increases” for the past 2 1/2 years. These are among the places that I have parked before and have been “kicked out” due to the expensive rates.
1) The parking area which is now the construction site for the Four Seasons Hotel (next to W. Central) – It was just RM5 per entry in 2004 when I started working around the corner. In 2005, it rose to RM 8 and again to RM10. And now, it is at RM12! However, would like to recommend/share a place where you can park for free only on Sundays (I hope they have not started collecting fees for this!). It is also managed by PPKA and it is a covered parking area in W. Central itself. The barriers are not locked on Sundays so you are free to go in and out.
2) The parking area around the KLCC mosque area – Before November 2006, the price was RM5 per entry for the parking area which is nearest to Petronas NGV pump building and RM3 per entry for the one facing Troika (BRDB). Now, it is at RM2.50 for the first hour, subsequent 2 hours at RM1 each hour, the rest at RM0.50 per hour. God knows, how much you’ll end paying if you park there the whole day especially those overtimers! Heard that they are constructing double-storey parking in these 2 areas which I suspect the rates will go up again.
3) Public Bank indoor parking (only on weekdays) – This is quite reasonable for us who do not have any allowances / subsidies from companies for parking. The rate is at RM3 per day per entry. The T&C is very simple, you ahve to be in before 10am and out after 5pm. But… normally it is full even before 9am. There have been rumours that the operator is going to close this car park for outsiders and only for Public Bank staff. Well, I hope they do not make such stupid restrictions coz, they earn a lot from the rest of us, non-staff of Public Bank. There was once they sealed up few rows of parking lots and ended up earning lesser than when they open them up to all.
4) The parking area behind Public Bank (open-air) – You have to go around the Public Bank building to the back and turn right into an open space. It charges the same rate as Public Bank = RM3 per day. However, the place could be quite dangerous especially after dark and ladies, please avoid going back late if you park in this area. The devastating news is the parking area will be close soon as they have succeeded to close a deal to a buyer who will develop that little area into a commercial building. Slightly adjacent to the area is another parking area which is always chained up as the operators said that they will only open the area once the RM3 area is fully-parked. The chained up area is at RM5 per day.
5) Wisma Equity indoor and outdoor parking area – The rate is at RM5.50 per day on weekdays and RM2.70 per day on weekends. [The weekends ticket stated that you can park till Monday morning, that means over the weekend till Sunday midnight. However, haven't tried and haven't enquired about that. It is good for those staying over the weekend around KLCC area.] Okay, I am surprised that this operator actually decreased the rate whilst others are increasing theirs. Previously, they charge per hour basis and they have not had many cars unlike now! At least here’s one place to vouch for. Even the outdoor parking is good enough with many shady trees and a short cut to Jln Yap Kwan Seng, at the intersection to Ambank.
6) Bolton parking area opposite Megan Avenue, Jln Yap Kwan Seng – The rate is at RM6 per day on weekdays and RM3 per day on weekends. I have parked here on weekends before finding out the W.Equity. The parking area is well lined using “invisible threads or strings” and it is quite hilly and bumpy.
7) Others – Lembaga Getah Asli parking area charges per hour basis on weekdays and RM3 on weekends. Sometimes, they don’t charge at all on weekends. [This is what a friend who is working with LGM told me.] Bangunan Angkasaraya building – not quite sure the rates but defenitely cheaper all the above. Wisma Selangor Dredging parking area charges at RM3 per day but a friend’s car got smashed by the security guards. Hmm… security issues. Though it is cheap but not really recommendable. Further down the road, Saloma Restaurant / MTC, Jln Ampang (opposite Lai Meng Chinese School and next to Zouk) – free parking! KLCC Convention Centre – RM6 per day, in before ??am, out after 5pm
All in all, depends on your budget it is up to you to choose but wherever you park, pls abide by the rules set by the owners / operators. The above are just the few that I have researched / observed over the past few years around KLCC area. Anywhere else which I have missed out, I think there are!
Thanks & best regards.
March 15th, 2007 at 2:20 pmNo wonder many ppl. working @ KLCC area would rather
March 15th, 2007 at 11:00 pmdrive thn park @ LRT stations esp. Asia Jaya & Taman Jaya area.
Dear all,
Just merely one day I’ve posted the rates for parking areas around KLCC, two spots have increased their prices!
Public Bank now charges RM3.50 per entry (enter before 10am, out after 5pm) effective 16 March 2007.
Wisma Equity now charges RM6.50 per entry on weekdays and RM3.00 per entry on weekends effective mid-March 2007.
Sigh… I suspect and predict that rates gonna go up again in the near future seeing that KLCC is surrounded by commercial buildings and apt/condos!
Expenses keeps increasing but salary has not increased!!!
Dear monkichii… if you were to calculate the mileage, petrol & parking, most of the times it is much cheaper to drive to KLCC. You pay so much for public transportation (LRT & buses) but service is not reliable and not integrated. You ended up paying for 2 or 3 different operators of the LRT itself (even buses) and it could reach about RM10 per day!
And now, DBKL mayor suggests to charge single-driver cars going into city which I think is a very BAD idea. It will be everyday affair especially to us who are working. They should charge shoppers and tourists instead! Why do they always victimised us, residents of Malaysia?!
March 19th, 2007 at 9:29 amLuvlyBelle: that’s 2 long comments..
wow, i didn’t know you really went around to check the parking rates around klcc.. are you working there?
anyways, i recently went to midvalley and i found the parking rates is still the same.. rm1 per entry on weekdays, rm3 for weekends. most probably the email i received was a hoax.
March 19th, 2007 at 10:14 am[...] time I posted a forwarded email about this which I thought was a hoax as it stated beginning 1st [...]
March 25th, 2007 at 5:03 pmDear CincauHangus,
I am not sure whether that email that you received was a hoax or what coz… one of my friends told me the same thing too and… when midvalleygardens open in sept 2007, i’m not surprised if they increase the parking rates for sure. Well, let’s just wait and see!
I think most of us who are working around KLCC do update ourselves on the rates here. Somehow news spread very fast. Coz… it is such a heavy burden for us esp when it’s a daily affair paying for parking day after day after day! It takes up a huge percentage of our wages.
Price increase but salary not increasing at all!
March 29th, 2007 at 2:59 pmhey luvlybelle,
I’ve updated the midvalley parking fees here:
http://journal.undebug.org/2007/03/25/midvalley-new-parking-fees-effective-26th-march/
maybe you ought to take a look. situation seems grim to me.
March 29th, 2007 at 3:06 pmI live in the Kuchai Lama area, I work in KLCC and have chosen to “Park n Ride” from Bukit Jalil LRT station. Per entry carpark at BT Jalil station, is RM1.50 and I buy the monthly unlimited LRT pass at RM90(aprox.RM3.46/day). Having to change trains at Masjid Jamek station, the entire journey would aproximately take about 45mins, all in all about 1 hour or so from the time I step out of my house. Does anyone here know of any better “Park n Ride” LRT stations preferably along the Putra LRT Line??? If yes please let me know the details by posting at this forum. THX!!!
June 25th, 2007 at 8:23 pmMiss park n ride: there’s one at the putra lrt jelatek station.. at ampang.
but that means you have to drive from kuchai lama to ampang everyday + jam. you can try for a week and see how it goes. =)
